One Month Closer

Yesterday I got an amazing email! After a week of intensive technical training concluding with a big exam, I found out that I had passed. This is great news as it is one step closer to getting my full B1 aircraft license. It’s the start of a two-year process that will allow me to not only sign out all the Ugandan based MAF aircraft from an avionics point of view, but also to sign out the airframe and engine side as well. This is a great advantage not only for me, but for MAF as well.

As we bring July to a close we wrap up what has been our busiest month for a long time. It’s nice to be back at home and to have some semblance of normality this week, as opposed to being in a hotel. What excites me is we are one month closer to going to Uganda and have ticked off three great training courses that help to send us on our way.

It is also really exciting to find out that we have raised almost a quarter of what we need financially to send us to Uganda. We need to have that money in place before we’re able to leave with MAF, so such a great start is a huge encouragement to us. Thank you so much to those who have partnered with us on this great adventure so far!

What does month two hold for us? Next week we are off to MAF-UK in Folkestone for our UK induction and to meet the amazing team based in the UK. Following that we are off to Faith Camp for a day where we will be speaking at Resolute (11-13 years of age) about what we are doing and what it means to follow the call of God on your life. Then we have a bit of home time to continue working on putting our all-important support team together before we head out to Uganda for a week on our Look-See visit. During that week, we will be meeting the team, seeing the sights of where we will live, finding the shops and discovering more about the amazing work that MAF are doing in Uganda and the surrounding countries.

It’s going to be really exciting to see the Ugandan programme and meet the team out there. I am sure we will have many great stories to tell when we get back. Until then thanks for reading and as ever, you can keep up with the latest news on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
